Isle of Wight - Blackgang Chine

Isle of Wight - Blackgang Chine

Suitable for wheelchair users, if accompanied by carers, tarmac paths wind their way round the 40 acres of Victorian gardens, now themed into different imaginative themed areas

  • Disabled toilets
  • Car parking close by & good access to most of the attractions make this park a popular destination for many disabled groups.
  • However, the gardens are situated on a cliff top location so some of the pathways are steep, and require strong pushers or motorised chairs.

Blackgang Chine, situated on the southwest tip of the Isle of Wight, is one of the Island’s top visitor attractions.

Blackgang has an atmosphere of magic and fantasy, maybe because of the strong lay-lines that are said to cross its geography, maybe because of its constant battle with erosion, as its cliffs fall into the sea at a steady 2-3 metres per year or maybe because generations of families keep returning to the park. (It opened to the public in 1843!)
