Headford is acknowledged to be one of the finest estates in Ireland. The estate consists of Headford House, Headford Golf Club, exquisite gardens and the Courtyards. The Main Courtyard, faces towards an 18th century parterre garden. The Lower Courtyard has a pair of mirror image buildings, each with twelve residences and private gardens, which overlook a formal reflecting pool framed with rows of semi mature lime trees. All the houses are soundproofed, and have underfloor and overhead heating systems, elegant cornices and some houses have antique pine ceiling beams, flooring in terra-cotta tiles, Portuguese limestone or French oak, open fireplaces, master bedrooms en-suite with power shower, ground floor guest bathroom, and fully equipped Neff kitchens. The Lower Courtyard has an airier and more elegant look with twelve beautifully crafted residences on either side of the reflecting pool. As in the Main Courtyard all the houses are fitted to the highest standards and also have a private garden. Headford Golf Club designed by Christy O\'Connor Jnr is one of the finest 18-hole parkland courses in the country and runs adjacent to the Main Courtyard. Other activities are provided for in the area by good equestrian centres for the beginner rider through to international levels. Good coarse fishing on the River Blackwater, which runs through the estate, is available or, perhaps the best option of all, a quiet walk in the park.
