Shoreham Airport
|
Viewing Gallery Ideally situated on the terrace overlooking the apron area, in front of the restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The Shoreham Airport Historical Association is glad to announce the availability of 'Spotter Visits' at Shoreham. Since the access to 'airside' at Shoreham has become very restricted to the general visitor we have decided to extend our Guided Tours facility to incorporate 'Spotter Visits'. These are aimed purely at the aircraft spotter who is interested in collecting registrations and does not necessarily have an interest in the history and growth of the airport. The Official Airport Guided Tour To raise funds to support the Airport Archive we offer a very popular Airport Guided Tour to both individuals and groups visiting the airport. The tours provide an insight into Shoreham's past along with a detailed explanation about the current day airport. Views of the resident aircraft are available throughout the tour which includes the Sussex Police Helicopter (subject to availability). The Visitor Centre You'll find us alongside the car park in front of the Terminal Building. The services offered at the Visitor Centre include an introduction to the aviation world to anybody of any age and above all with any interest. Our knowledge is kept alive by the expertise of our volunteers and the careful attention to detail in our research and interviewing of visitors who have served at Shoreham in either a civilian role or a military capacity in either of the two World Wars. There is no admission charge to the Visitor Centre, although we do ask for a small donation if you should feel your visit worthwhile. The Centre is normally open 7 days-a-week, 10am to 5pm If you are making a special trip, please telephone in advance. The Fly In Restaurant and Bar, Terminal Building, Shoreham Airport This facility is open to the public during normal business hours and most evenings. It boasts a splendid dining room with views across the airport where daily flying activities can be observed. It is entered from the car park side of the Terminal building with it's own door or through the main Airport Foyer. The restaurant is available for private hire. |
