The Gardens Roughly 20 acres, surrounding the Hall are made up of mature woodland, contrasting greatly with the formal Rose Garden. 1912 the house and gardens were abandoned and over the next 30 years nature was not long in reclaiming the grounds. When the house was reoccupied by the Eighth Marquess of Hertford, the gardens were low on the list of priorities. However they have come a long way since then and still have much scope for development. There is something to see throughout the open season from spring bulbs, rhododendrons and spring flowering shrubs right up into October for border flowers, autumn bulbs, autumn foliage and berries.
