Savill Garden - Windsor Great Park
|
In 1932 Sir Eric Savill started the Savill Garden from an undeveloped area of the Great Park. It has become world renowned for its wonderful collections of plants which give such spectacular spring displays; the formal rose garden and herbaceous borders in summer; the fiery colours of autumn and the misty vistas of winter. There is also a unique temperate house which shelters frost-tender plants from the rigours of winter and is a fragrant delight in spring a piece of woodland under glass. A new garden within The Garden has been created, opened by Her Majesty The Queen. The theme of this new Golden Jubilee Garden is soft and peaceful; a summer garden, with hard landscaping. Various events are organised at the Savill Garden each year for the enjoyment of visitors. Having walked round this delightful garden, enjoy a relaxing meal in the excellent restaurant and treat yourself to something from the planteria and gift shop.
