Dog walking over 1000 acres. Queen Elizabeth I spent most of her childhood at Hatfield. The great hall of the old Royal Palace, which is close to the present house, is now the prestigious venue for weddings, private functions and banquets. Hatfield House was built by Robert Cecil, first Earl of Salisbury & Chief Minister to King James 1, in 1611. This celebrated Jacobean house has been in the Cecil Family ever since and is the home of the 7th Marquess of Salisbury. Programme of Events A wide variety of events are held throughout the year.
