A visit to this great fort is the complete day out for all members of the family as it takes you through the ages of its remarkable and unparalleled history in British warfare. From its time as a fortress of coastal defence built by the illustrious and equally robust King Henry VIII in the mid-sixteenth century, to the Anti-Aircraft defence visited by Sir Winston Churchill during World War 2. Now it is also the only remaining Napoleonic fort left in Yorkshire.
Fascinating Waxworks Displays The spectacular historical scenes are to be discovered in our underground labyrinths. A tremendous array of wax-works creations, created and produced by our own unit, interpret Fort Paulls operations and globally momentous connections. Their enlightening and enchanting features make this attraction one of the most enjoyable amalgamations of education and entertainment around. There is a second fortress system underground at Fort Paull, with two tunnels leading to both single and double two-storey Caponieres (each a remarkable fort within a fort), and underground labyrinths and passages leading to Paulls Fortress Vaults, military hospital and apothecary, gun and bomb stores,WRNS, and radio bases. Among the vast array of artefacts on display is the death mask of Goering, and replicas of the Crown Jewels.
The Fort Paull Armouries Fort Paull has a fascinating multitude of rare period and contemporary artillery presented in conjunction with THE ROYAL ARMOURIES of Great Britain. To compliment the artillery pieces, there are classic military vehicles, armoured cars and live working mechanisms. Fort Paull also presents a complex of exhibits and occasional craft shops above its old officers quarters and barracks, the Churchill Tea Rooms, The Dukes of York fully-licensed bar, gift shop, toilet facilities and is the ideal location for any event. Birds Of Prey Falconry Displays Falconry displays are provided six days a week by Falconry Adventures - The Academy of Falconry Experience. A close encounter with the birds of prey including owls, hawks, falcons and even an eagle is an experience not easily forgotten.
