Hard to believe that this beautiful 12 acre ornamental garden was only begun in 1980, hewn from a bare hillside covered in bracken and gorse. The warming effects of the Gulf Stream allows exotic plants to thrive, with large collections of interesting trees and shrubs from around the southern hemisphere. Some of the exotics include embothrium from Chili, eucalypts, rhododendrons and hydrangeas which flourish amongst this maze of hilly plantings. A peaceful haven with seats and winding paths for all to enjoy. Tearoom Our licensed Tearoom is open and ready to serve you a delicious range of hot and cold meals, snacks, drinks - alchoholic and non-alchoholic, and seasonal produce. Plant Centre Situated by the Tearoom, Glenwhan has a thriving Nursery with a wide variety of plants for sale, to suit all pockets. Many of the plants are raised on the property and may be seen flourishing in the gardens. Every effort is made to propogate plants on request, if the plants are unavailable at the time of your visit. A special book of requests maybe found in the tearooms. Opening Times Gardens are open from March until October daily, 10.00am - 17.30pm.
