Special Abilities Ltd
|
Special Abilities started as a voluntary organisation in April 1999 led by Gillian Archbold with the help and support of friends and family. Over the years she had collected lots of information from parents she met through visits to the hospitals and other sources, charity and voluntary work. She put it onto disks, and started to help parents who in turn would then tell someone else who needed help. As the demand grew she set up a small charity called “Special Abilities” which is thriving in the Wakefield Area. This small organisation started to pass on information and started by producing it’s our own leaflets and contacting agencies that Gillian had either used herself or had helped and through their help the charity reached many parents with a special needs child. This grew to include a telephone advice service and a web site, with thousands of visitors every month. To satisfy the needs identified -Special abilities ltd- was then set up, and now provides special needs awareness training packages. There has been a great demand for disability training. including providing training packages for service providers, organisations, volunteer groups, as well as training and events for Parents/Carers of a Special Needs Child from 0 – 16 years and to individuals |
