The Anchorage Guest House dates from 1886 and is set in the historical village of Balloch, lying close to the shores of Loch Lomond and within Scotland's first National Park. Situated directly at the mouth of the loch where it meets the river Leven, the surroundings are spectacular and visitors are only a short distance away from cruises on Scotland's most famous loch. Balloch Park and Castle are also within easy reach,boasting 200 acres of country park, nature walks, gardens and breathtaking views over Loch Lomond. The Anchorage is an ideal stopping off place for visitors standing as it does at the gateway to the Western Isles. It is also a good base for those wishing to spend a few days taking in the wonderful attractions including, golfing, walking, cycling, fishing, watersports, sailing, canoeing and boat hire. Horse riding and pony trekking can be found just outside Balloch. There are 5 en-suite bedrooms here all at ground floor level, and there are toilet and shower facilities for the disabled. The Anchorage has its own private car park allowing you to forget your car and enjoy the nearby bars and restaurants. Ironing and laundry facilities are available for the weary traveler. The Anchorage is only 25 minutes by car from Glasgow City and 20 minutes from Glasgow Airport. |
