Each year over 100,000 people in England and Wales have their first stroke. About 10,000 of these are under the age of 55. A A stroke is a serious and sometimes life-threatening condition. It is a leading cause of disability and the fourth leading cause of death among Americans. Until recently, if you were to experience a stroke, supportive care was all that was available. But now, stroke management has progressed to a point where a stroke can be stopped in its path.
The Conductive Education Website
Conductive Education is a form of special education and rehabilitation for children and adults with motor disorders. It is appropriate for conditions where disease or damage to the central nervous system affects a person's ability to control movement. In childhood these conditions include cerebral palsy and dyspraxia, and in adulthood, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and those who have had a stroke or head injury.

The Stroke Association’s Community Services provide support for people affected by stroke. We have an information and education service and provide welfare grants and publications.
Volunteer Stroke Service, Borders East
The Volunteer Stroke Service, part of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland helps people who have had a stroke resulting in speech and communication problems. Our aim is to help people attain the maximum recovery possible and help them have a life after stroke.
